no ink for cyan (least used colour) feeding from a full cyan ink tank) Should I try to remove the cover for the printhead to investigate if it is a case of a blocked print jet?

@snilmot, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding No Ink for Cyan on HP Smart Tank 7005!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It appears that your HP Smart Tank 7005 printer is not feeding cyan ink despite having a full cyan ink tank. This may be due to a blocked printhead or another issue within the printer. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue:
Steps to Investigate a Blocked Printhead
Ensure Printhead Cover is Properly Closed:
- Lift the ink access door.
- Check if the printhead cover is properly closed and the print carriage is not obstructed.
- If the printhead cover is open, press it closed securely to make sure it is latched correctly.
Check Ink Levels:
- Confirm that the cyan ink tank is indeed full and has enough ink.
- On the printer’s control panel, press the button to check ink levels and verify there are no warnings regarding ink status.
Perform Printhead Cleaning:
- Use the printer's software or control panel to initiate a printhead cleaning cycle. This can sometimes clear minor blockages.
- If the cyan ink still does not print after cleaning, proceed with manual intervention.
Printhead Removal and Inspection:
- Caution: Only remove the printhead if instructed and be careful not to touch electrical contacts and ink nozzles.
- Open the printhead cover using the printhead cover button (if available).
- Gently remove the cyan printhead and inspect it for clogs or dried ink.
- Clean the printhead with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water if you notice any visible clog.
- Ensure there is no orange plug or plastic tape left on the printhead.
Reinstall Printhead:
- After cleaning, reinsert the cyan printhead into its slot.
- Close the printhead cover and ensure everything is securely in place.
- Close the ink access door.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
