Hi @JD1492,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "cartridge error" or "problem with at least one print cartridge" message on your HP 3830 printer typically indicates an issue with the cartridges themselves, their installation, or the printer's ability to recognize them. Since you've mentioned that you're using new cartridges and continue to receive error messages, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue:

Reset the Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor communication issues between the printer and the cartridges.

Check for Protective Tape: Ensure that all protective tape, stickers, or plastic tabs have been completely removed from the new cartridges. These are typically placed to protect the cartridge during shipping and can cause recognition issues if not removed.

Clean the Contacts: The electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the printer should be clean and free of any debris or ink residue. Use a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts. Be sure to turn off and unplug the printer before doing this.

Reinstall the Cartridges: Make sure that the cartridges are installed correctly in their designated slots. They should click into place and be firmly seated.

Check for Compatibility: Confirm that the cartridges are compatible with the HP 3830 printer. HP printers are designed to work with specific cartridge models, and using an incompatible cartridge can lead to errors.

Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. HP regularly releases firmware updates that can resolve known issues. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel, depending on your model.

Try Another Cartridge: If possible, try using a different new cartridge to see if the error persists. This can help determine if the issue is with a specific cartridge or with the printer itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
