Hi @Elvisnut

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It can be frustrating when an ink cartridge gets stuck, but don't worry—here are HP-specific steps to safely remove the incorrectly inserted cartridge from your HP DeskJet 2720e:

1. Turn Off the Printer

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source to ensure safety while working inside the printer.

2. Access the Cartridge Area

  • Open the cartridge access door to expose the ink cartridges.
  • Wait for the cartridge carriage to stop moving and become idle.

3. Gently Wiggle the Cartridge

  • Hold the stuck cartridge firmly and gently wiggle it side to side while pulling it outward.
  • Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage to the cartridge or the printer.

4. Use a Flat Tool (Optional)

  • If the cartridge is deeply stuck, use a flat tool like the back of a spoon or a dull table knife:
    • Insert the tool between the top of the cartridge and the underside of the carriage slot.
    • Gently lift the tool slightly to free the cartridge.

5. Inspect the Cartridge and Slot

  • Once removed, inspect the cartridge for any damage or debris.
  • Check the cartridge slot for obstructions or misaligned parts.

6. Reinsert the Cartridge Correctly

  • Align the cartridge with the slot and insert it gently until it clicks into place.
  • Ensure the cartridge is seated properly to avoid future issues.

7. Reset the Printer

  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Perform a test print to ensure the printer is functioning correctly.
