I have the same issue. Purchased a two pack of 902xl cartridges and tried to use the second cartridge after the first ran out of ink, but now receiving a older generation error message. The two pack was a HP product.

I understand you are not able to use the new replacement ink cartridges due to this error. To assist you better,
- Are you sure this is an HP genuine ink cartridge?
- Validate this by clicking here - HP Anti-Counterfeit and Fraud (ACF) Program
If this is a genuine HP ink cartridge, I would need some information related to the ink cartridges and the printer which cannot be shared on a public post for security reasons.
