Hi,

I live in Israel and, while visiting the States, I bought 4  HP63XL black ink cartridges. I have a all in one deskjet ink advantage 3835 printer which is rejecting the cartridges. It seems they are for the 3830 printer, but they fit perfectly. The cartridges cost a lot of money. Is there anyway to get them to be accepted by the printer. I already tried inserting them and powering the printer down for 15 minutes, which did not work. Thank you for any helpful advice.

The Deskjet Ink Advantage 3835 uses HP 652 cartridges in Israel (HP 664 or HP 680 are used in different regions). The HP 63XL cartridges are used in the Officejet 3830 series printers in North America.  Unfortunately, there is no way to use the HP 63XL cartridges in your Deskjet Ink Advantage 3835 printer.  While the HP 63XL cartridges may look similar they are not compatible with the HP 652/664/680 cartridges.

If the cartridges are new, unopened and in warranty you might contact HP and ask if they can be exchanged for the HP 652 cartridges you need.  Alternately, you might offer the unopened cartridges on eBay or some similar.  Note that the HP 63XL cartridges are used in North America and Asia Pacific, the HP 63XL cartridges will not work in any European printers.
