Hi @tob25,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Remove and Inspect the Ink Cartridge

Turn on the Printer:

  • Make sure the printer is powered on.

Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door:

  • Lift the cartridge access door until it locks into place.

Remove the Color Cartridge:

  • Carefully remove the color ink cartridge from its slot.

Check for Protective Tapes:

  • Ensure that all plastic protective tapes are removed from the new cartridge. Sometimes, small pieces might be overlooked.

Step 2: Clean the Ink Cartridge and Printer Contacts

Use a Clean, Lint-Free Cloth:

  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge with the cloth to remove ink residue or debris.

Clean the Printer Contacts:

  • Similarly, clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge was seated.

Reset the Printer

Turn off the Printer:

  • Power off your printer by pressing the power button.

Unplug the Printer:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.

Wait for at least 60 seconds:

  • Allow the printer to sit unplugged for a minute.

Plug in the Printer:

  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.

Turn on the Printer:

  • Power on the printer and wait for it to start up fully.

Step 4: Reinstall the Ink Cartridge

Reinstall the Color Cartridge:

  • Place the color ink cartridge back into its slot until it clicks into place.

Close the Ink Cartridge Access Door:

  • Lower the access door until it locks.

Run an Alignment Test:

  • On the printer’s control panel, select the option to align the cartridges. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the HP support website and enter your printer model (HP Envy 5660).
    • Download and install any available firmware updates for your printer.

Alternate Troubleshooting and Support

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If possible, try another new color cartridge to rule out a defective cartridge.

I hope this helps.
