my HP printer is giving me an error message ... ink cartridge short or damaged. it will not let me bypass the massage to check ink levels. I have already unplugged it and plugged it back several times. My printer is a HP Photosmart D110

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

 

Try the following steps:

Check the Ink Cartridges:

  • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to ensure they are properly installed.
  • Inspect the ink cartridges for damage or leaks.
  • Clean the copper-colored contacts on the ink cartridges using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 10 seconds and then plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Replace the Ink Cartridges:

  • If the error persists, the ink cartridges may be faulty. Replace them with new HP ink cartridges compatible with your HP Photosmart D110.

Update Firmware:

Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
