I have the  the HP DeskJet 2700 printer, which I refilled the cartridges. After refilling the cartridges for some reason my printer keeps showing that the ink is low. Is there any solution for this. How can I have my printer refreshing the cartridges percentage/level? I did log in with the local IP for the printer (so I can have admin access), even then, in the cartridges section, it only give me the option to order supplies or print printer status report, NOT OPTION FOR REFRESHING or something like that :(. Any suggestion please?!

Hi @SGSG1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2700 is showing low ink warnings even after you’ve refilled the cartridges, and you’re looking for a way to reset or refresh the ink levels. Here’s the explanation and recommended steps:

1. Why This Happens

HP DeskJet printers use smart cartridges with chips that track ink levels.

Refilling the cartridges does not reset the chip, so the printer still thinks the cartridge is low or empty.

HP does not provide a manual “refresh” or reset ink level” option in the printer menu or via the IP/admin page.

2. What You Can Do

Continue Printing: Even if the printer shows “low ink,” refilled cartridges will usually continue to print until the ink actually runs out.

Ignore Low Ink Warnings: Many users simply press OK on the warning dialogs and continue printing.

HP Instant Ink Cartridges: If your cartridges are HP Instant Ink, the printer may refuse to recognize refilled cartridges. Only genuine cartridges supplied by HP are fully recognized.

3. Driver & Firmware Updates

Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Go to HP Support – DeskJet 2700 Drivers → Firmware.

Sometimes updates can improve compatibility with refilled cartridges, though they won’t reset ink levels.

I hope this helps.
