HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

Printer tells me the cartridge is incompatible. It's an HP 65 XL color cartridge. I have done everything suggested both cleaning the contacts and unplugging the printer, twice. It's just not working. Is it possible to exchange it with HP?

Hi @AnTen ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with an HP printer cartridge and have already tried cleaning the contacts and unplugging the printer without success, there are a few additional steps you can take before considering an exchange:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridge you are using is compatible with your HP ENVY 5055 printer. Sometimes, a cartridge designed for a different model might not work properly.

Update Printer Firmware: Make sure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check the HP support website for firmware updates for your specific printer model.

Inspect the Cartridge: Examine the cartridge for any visible defects, such as damage to the contacts or the ink nozzles. If you find any issues, you may need to replace the cartridge.

Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes resolve communication issues.

Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, try inserting a different cartridge to see if the problem persists. This can help determine whether the issue is with the cartridge itself or the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
