HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

I was basically swapping out empty HP ink cartridges (950 & 951) for full HP ink cartridges (950 & 951) and none of the four will now fully seat into their assigned slots.  Upon pushing each cartridge in, they stop about half-way into their slots.  Upon pushing again, they pop out as they are supposed to do.  Do I need a new printer head or is there something else I can do to remedy this problem?

Unfortunately, my issue isn't purely loading an ink cartridge to my printer.  I've done that a number of times and had great success.  My issue is that on my most recent attempt to unload empty cartridge and reload new cartridge, the new cartridge will not fit all the way into the slot.  I have spoken to HP support, and they inform me that since the printer was purchased in 2014 it is expected that the printhead would malfunction in this way (planned obsolescence at its best) and that there was nothing they could do to help me solve this problem.

Having been an HP customer (just recently purchased another HP Pavilion laptop), needless to say I'm very disappointed.  It makes no sense to me that the cartridge would not fit into the slot it was built for.  Nothing changed between taking the old cartridge out and trying to put the new one in, it just won't slide all the way in anymore.   I pulled the other three current cartridges and tried to slide them back into their slots, and that won't work either.  So know I have a perfectly good HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 printer that won't accept ink cartridges.

I'm hoping you can help with this specific problem.

Thank you and best regards,  Gary
