ink not drying on photos paper from Staples nor Office Depot. Never had this problem before. Pictures print blurry then ink literally starts to run off of paper. What wrong, cause ink prints and dries fine on regular paper.

Hi @pebrown

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is having issues with ink not drying on photo paper from Staples and Office Depot:

  • Paper Compatibility: Not all photo papers are compatible with all printers. Check if the photo paper you're using is recommended for inkjet printers and specifically for your HP model.
  • Paper Type Setting: Ensure that the printer settings match the type of paper you are using. For photo paper, you may need to select a specific paper type in the print settings (e.g., glossy, matte).
  • Ink Quality and Compatibility: Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges might cause issues with ink drying and quality.
  • Humidity and Environmental Factors: High humidity can affect the drying time of ink on photo paper. Ensure the printing environment is dry and at a suitable temperature.
  • Print Quality Settings: Check the print quality settings. High-quality photo printing settings can sometimes lay down more ink, which takes longer to dry.
  • Printer Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks like cleaning the printhead. Clogged or dirty printheads can cause issues with ink distribution.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Paper Type Setting:

  • Go to the print settings on your computer.
  • Select the correct paper type (e.g., photo paper, glossy, matte) in the printer properties or preferences.

Use Recommended Paper:

  • Use HP photo paper or another brand that is specifically recommended for your printer model.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges.
  • Replace any low or old cartridges.

Adjust Print Quality:

  • Try using a lower print quality setting to reduce the amount of ink used.
  • Alternatively, try a different print quality setting to see if it affects the drying time.

Perform Printer Maintenance:

  • Clean the printhead using the printer's maintenance tools.
  • Align the printhead if needed.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Print in a controlled environment with moderate humidity and temperature.
  • Allow the printed photos to dry in a flat, dry place.
