Depending on the printer, the original HP cartridge, and whether your printer has had HP+ enabled, the printer might tolerate you refilling the cartridges.
That said, the practice is not supported by HP --
Perhaps direct your how-to search to the Internet.

Most HP printers are protected by Dynamic Security.
(The name of the security differs by printer brand / manufacturer).
HP printers that tolerate refilled cartridges, require any refilled / remanufactured cartridge to be used in the printer to include an embedded HP chip.
