Hp office jet 8015e. I just changed out my black ink with a 910xl cartridge. I am only wanting to print in black, do I need to change out the colored in as also?  My test page is blank.

Hi @StephanieHTRx,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you changed out your black ink with a 910xl cartridge and you are only wanting to print in black, you do not necessarily need to change out your colored ink cartridges. However, if the test page is blank, there might be a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Ink Levels: Verify that the ink levels of the newly installed cartridge are full and the cartridge is properly seated in the printer.

Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings are set to print in grayscale or black-only mode. This can be checked through the printer driver settings on your computer.

Run a Printhead Cleaning:

  • Access the printer's control panel.
  • Navigate to the maintenance or settings menu.
  • Select "Clean Printhead" and follow the prompts to complete the cleaning process. This can sometimes resolve issues where the ink is not flowing properly.

Printer Alignment: Make sure that the printhead is aligned. This can be done via the printer's maintenance menu.

Software Updates: Ensure that your printer’s firmware and the printer driver on your computer are up-to-date.

Check for Blockages: Sometimes, there can be blockages or air pockets in the ink delivery system. Check for any obstructions.

I hope this helps.
