Hi @MC1129,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP printer displays the error message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" even after installing new authentic HP ink cartridges and rebooting the printer multiple times, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check for Leaks and Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Remove the ink cartridges and examine them for any sign of leaks. If any cartridges are leaking, do not use them and contact HP support for replacements.
  • If there are no leaks, re-install the cartridges carefully. Ensure they are inserted correctly and that the printer cover is securely closed.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on. This can help reset the printer's internal settings.

Clean Electrical Contacts:

  • Ink or dust on the electrical contacts can cause errors. Gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and the carriage using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Ensure no water drips into the printer.

Use HP Software Tools:

  • Use the HP Utility (for Mac) or Toolbox (for Windows) to check printer status and perform maintenance tasks such as printhead cleaning and alignment.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer model on the Official HP® Support. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues.

Check for Any Obstructions:

  • Open the printer and inspect for any paper jams or obstructions that might be affecting the ink system.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
