Hi @aurbiola,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue with the Jettron replacement 902XL ink cartridge. When a printer indicates that an ink cartridge is blocked or incompatible, it can be due to a few different reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the Jettron 902XL cartridge is compatible with your specific printer model. Even though it’s labeled as a replacement, not all third-party cartridges work seamlessly with every printer.

Remove and Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and carefully remove the new Jettron cartridge.
  • Check for any protective plastic or tape that might still be on the cartridge. Many third-party cartridges have protective seals that need to be removed before installation.
  • Reinstall the cartridge, making sure it is seated correctly in the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a reset can help the printer recognize new cartridges.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Check the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer for any dust or debris.
  • Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure your printer drivers are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause compatibility issues with new cartridges.
  • Visit the printer HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. HP occasionally release updates that can improve compatibility with third-party cartridges.

Verify Cartridge Authentication:

  • Some printers have built-in systems to detect and block third-party cartridges. If the Jettron cartridge isn’t recognized, it might be due to the printer's anti-counterfeit mechanisms.
  • If this is the case, you might need to contact Jettron or the seller for support or consider returning the cartridge.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If possible, try another new Jettron cartridge or a genuine cartridge to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the specific cartridge or the printer itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
