Hello,

I have problems with my black and white laser printer since I inserted an ink cartridge that stained the foam transfer roller. I tried to clean this roller, but now when I print, there are repeating vertical defects every 76 mm. The transfer roller seems to be stained with ink and I don’t know how to clean it. Do you have any ideas?

The drum ( toner) circumference is 76mm, transfer roller has way smaller circumference and would leave way smaller repeating marks on the back side.

Drum leaves marks on front side, transfer on back side of the printed sheet.

It's the toner causing you defects on the front side, try printing with old toner to see will it clear out after few pages.

Hi Valsimot,

I changed the toner cartridge several times but there are line repetitions appearing in the background every 76 mm. That is why I concluded that it was coming from the transfer roller more than from the drum of the ink cartridge. But maybe you are right. I will try to change the ink cartridge again.

Valsimot ,

If you are sure that it is the cartridge drum that leaves marks on the front (printed side) and the transfer cylinder could only leaves marks on the paper back, this is crucial information for me.

I cleaned the printer cartridge drum but there is still a horizontal line printing across the width of the page every 76mm. How can you explain this ?

Defective drum.

Thanks Valsimot for your answer. I shall try with an other cartridge to see the result.
