I'm getting little short lines printing in my design, I'm printing on photo paper. It's like there's maybe a smear or something and it's going across the paper and not putting the ink in that spot. I tried aligning, smear, clean up and nothing is working. Please help

Hi @shantez
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you’re experiencing lines or streaks when printing on glossy paper with your printer, here are some steps to help resolve the issue:
1. Check Ink Levels
- Ensure that your ink cartridges are not low or empty. Low ink can cause print quality issues.
2. Clean Printheads
- Since you’ve already tried cleaning, make sure to run the printhead cleaning function again:
- Go to the printer’s menu or use the HP Smart app to access Tools > Clean Printheads.
3. Check for Paper Type Settings
- Make sure you have the correct paper type selected in the print settings:
- Choose "Photo Paper" or "Glossy Paper" in your print settings to ensure the printer adjusts for the paper type.
4. Print Quality Settings
- Increase the print quality in your print settings:
- Select a higher quality setting in the print dialog, which can help improve the output on glossy paper.
5. Use a Different Glossy Paper
- Sometimes, certain brands or types of glossy paper can cause issues. Try using a different brand of photo paper to see if that resolves the problem.
6. Inspect the Paper Path
- Check for any dust or debris in the paper path that could cause smearing or streaks. Clean the rollers and the interior of the printer gently with a lint-free cloth.
7. Run a Print Quality Diagnostic
- Print a diagnostic page to see if the lines appear in the test patterns. This can help determine if the issue is with the printheads or specific to the glossy paper.
8. Firmware Update
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP Support website
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
