Hi @ghengis63,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how disappointing it is to watch a fresh print come out with vertical lines, especially when your DeskJet 2855e is practically new. Let’s gently walk through the process to clean and align the printhead. It’s simpler than it might seem:

1. Clean the Printhead (Ink Nozzle)

Vertical lines often mean clogged nozzles. Cleaning the printhead can help clear them:

From the Printer’s Control Panel:

  1. Make sure there's plain white paper in the tray.
  2. Tap the Setup (gear icon) → Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  3. Select Clean Printhead, then confirm.
  4. The printer prints a test page after each cycle. If you still see vertical lines, repeat the cleaning up to three times, waiting a few minutes between cycles.

From HP App or Embedded Web Server:

  • Open the HP app, select your 2855e, go to Print Quality Tools, and choose Clean Printhead.
  • Or log into the printer’s Embedded Web Server via browser (type the IP in the address bar), navigate to Print Quality Toolbox, then Clean Printhead.

2. Align the Printhead

Alignment ensures nozzles are correctly positioned and can remove lines:

Using HP App:

  1. Load paper and open the HP app
  2. Select your printer → Print Quality ToolsAlign Printheads.
  3. The printer prints an alignment sheet; either follow the on-screen prompts to scan it or let the printer finish the process.

From the Printer Panel:

  1. Tap SetupPrinter MaintenanceAlign Printhead.
  2. Let the printer print and complete the alignment cycle.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
