Hi @yaadwinder, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The print quality issues and lines on the paper in your HP LaserJet Tank 1020w printer could be due to several reasons, including dirty rollers, low toner levels, or issues with the drum unit. Try these troubleshooting steps:

1. Check the Toner Level

  • If the toner is low, print quality can degrade. Replace the toner if needed.
  • Ensure you are using genuine HP toner.

2. Print a Quality Diagnostic Page

  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Resume button simultaneously for a few seconds.
  • A Self-Test Report will print.
  • Check if the lines or quality issues appear on this report.

3. Clean the Imaging Drum

  • Open the printer's front panel and remove the toner cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free, dry cloth to gently clean the imaging drum.
  • Do not touch the drum with your fingers as it can be damaged.

4. Check for Toner Spillage or Paper Dust

  • If there’s excess toner inside the printer, gently clean it with a dry cloth.
  • Remove and reinsert the toner cartridge properly.

5. Run the Printer Cleaning Mode

  • Go to Windows Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP LaserJet Tank 1020w, then go to Printer Properties.
  • Under the Maintenance tab, select Cleaning Page and follow the instructions.

6. Check Paper Type and Condition

  • Ensure you're using the correct paper type (smooth, laser-compatible paper).
  • Do not use moist, wrinkled, or too thin/thick paper.

7. Perform a Firmware Update

  • Download and install the latest firmware for the printer from HP’s official website.

8. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 10 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
