HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use my printer only to print B&W. It's printing illegible copies, even with new cartridge; cleaned printhead twice, didn't help.

Having to use non-HP ink as COSTCO has been out of HP ink. Problem started after downloading HP software upgrade. I'm long out of warranty. Suggestions?

@Photosmart6520-, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the print quality is not satisfactory. Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

If the issue persists even after replacing the ink cartridges, I'm afraid the printer has gone bad.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
