i don't know what i'm doing wrong. i'm sure usually i've just opened the lid, but now it is preventing me from opening. it says the door must be shut to prevent damage to the ink cartridges. i'm trying to replace the ink cartridges.
i've tried turning it off but as soon as i open the lic (try to) it wakes up and prevents me from opening the lid. it's very frustrating.
can anyone help?

I'd like to help!
I understand you are unable to replace ink cartridges.
Try the below suggestions -
Reset the product
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Try the steps in the document -Replace HP inkjet printer cartridges
Also, check for jams in the printer -A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays

Hello Jay,
unfortunately none of your solutions have worked. no firmware was available to update, no drivers, the documents did not have any solutions to my problem and resetting the printer also did not help.
do you have any other suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. Did you find any solution to your problem?
I want to replace the ink cartridge but when I try to open the lid, a light turns on and it chimes and then it blocks me from opening it. I don't want to force it since it will probably break something. I tried reinstalling drivers and the printer, reboots, restarting the printer spool, emptying print jobs etc. but nothing seems to work. For the rest the printer seems to work fine, ie. scanning and printing works without issues. What should I do?
