My HP color laser jet pro MFP M281cdw won't stop printing the same page over and over again

Hi @Sundance5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it can be when your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw printer gets stuck in a loop, endlessly repeating the same page, it’s like a paper Groundhog Day. Let’s help break the cycle and get your printer back on track.

1. Clear the Print Queue

On Windows:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your printer > See what's printing
  • Cancel all print jobs
  • Right-click the printer again > Set as default

On macOS:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Select your printer > click Open Print Queue
  • Cancel all jobs

2. Restart Printer & Computer

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the wall for 30 seconds
  • Shut down your computer
  • Plug the printer back in, power it on, and then start your computer

3. Check for "Print Last Job" Setting

Your printer may be accidentally set to reprint the last job:

  1. From the printer control panel, go to Setup
  2. Navigate to Service > Reprint Last Job
  3. Make sure it’s turned off

4. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver

5. Reset Printer Settings (If Needed)

As a last resort:

  • From the printer screen: Setup > Service > Restore Defaults
  • Note: This will erase any saved settings like Wi-Fi passwords or custom preferences

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
