My newly installed 364 cartridge has printed less than 100sheets in a 12 hour period, it said on the box it should do approx 250 surely this is false advertising, I mean I was printing on draft setting, and it was just an spreadsheet with mostly empy boxes it wasnt particularly ink heavy 😞 Is there anything I can do about it?

The document here shows how HP measures page yield according to the ISO/IEC 24711 test standard.

There are several factors that would affect page yield:

  • Print mode.  In your case, using Draft mode would typically give nearly 2X the pages as compared to Normal or Best modes.
  • Content.  While it may seem that a spreadsheet with many empty boxes would not be a heavy print, if you are drawing the borders for each cell that could use a lot of ink compared to just printing text.
  • Servicing.  Do you run any manual servicing/cleaning modes?  This can use a lot ink and is rarely (almost never) needed.
  • Power.  Do you leave the printer plugged into a live outlet?  If an outlet switch is used to power down the printer it will cause the printer to lose track of time.  The result is the printer will go through a more aggressive startup routine which will use more ink than normal.  It is best to leave the printer always connected to a live outlet, and only use the printer's power switch to turn off the power.
