Hi @Mumford2
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
If your HP MFP M283fdw printer is indicating that the newly purchased 206X cartridges are blocked due to a non-HP chip, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:
1. Verify Cartridge Authenticity
- Ensure that the cartridges are genuine HP products. Sometimes third-party or refilled cartridges can have compatibility issues. Check the packaging and labeling for authenticity.
2. Check Cartridge Installation
- Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly. Sometimes a poor connection can trigger errors.
3. Update Printer Firmware
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. HP periodically releases updates that improve compatibility with cartridges:
- Visit the HP Support website and check for the latest firmware for your printer model.
4. Reset the Printer
- Try turning off the printer, unplugging it for about 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in. This can sometimes reset any temporary issues.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
