office jet 5255 is printing very lightly on some of the black print. I have adjusted the settings for darker print but hasn't solved the issue. There is plenty of ink in the printer. Could the ink be bad? It is the correct HP cartridges.

@grant45, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand the print quality of black is not satisfactory. To assist you better,
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
- Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues
Clean the ink cartridge up to 2 times and print a test page to check the result.
Note: You may remove the color ink cartridge while cleaning to save ink.
