HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer message "Printer Failure" printer or ink system.  3 of 4 cartridges are new. Magenta and Black indicate ink levels, Cyan and Yellow do not.  I have tried shutting off, pulling plugs from printer, surg suppressor and wall.  Removing cartridges and reinstalling.  None of this has worked.  Cannot get a human being on the phone from HP to discuss.  May have to decide to buy a new printer, if I do, it will not be HP do to lack of support.  Need help!

Hi @beerguy1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When encountering a "Printer Failure" message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, it's typically related to the printer or ink system, especially when some cartridges do not show ink levels. Given the steps you have already attempted, here are a few additional recommendations to troubleshoot the issue:

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP cartridges could cause this issue.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.

  • Wait for at least 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into a wall outlet.

  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.

Inspect Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that all cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert them carefully.

  • Check if there is any visible damage or ink leakage on the cartridges.

Clean the Printhead:

  • From the printer's control panel, access the setup menu.

  • Navigate to 'Tools' and select 'Clean Printhead' to initiate printhead cleaning which might help if printheads are clogged.

Check for Firmware Updates:

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
