@gtonut1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Printer Settings:

  • Printer Preferences: Open the printer settings on your computer and make sure you have selected the correct print quality (e.g., “Standard” or “High Quality”) and ensure the color settings are enabled (instead of grayscale or black and white).
  • Paper Type: Ensure you're printing on the right type of paper for the job. If you're using glossy paper or photo paper, ensure the printer settings reflect that choice.

Run a Printhead Cleaning:

  • Sometimes clogged printheads cause color issues. Most printers have a built-in cleaning function.
  • Steps:
    • Go to your printer settings.
    • Locate the “Maintenance” or “Printer Maintenance” section.
    • Select "Clean Printhead" or "Deep Cleaning" (you may need to do it more than once).
    • Print a test page afterward to see if it resolves the issue.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Cartridge Placement: Ensure the ink cartridges are installed correctly and properly seated. Sometimes they may not be making a proper connection.
  • Cartridge Condition: Even if your cartridges are 75% full, they could still be defective or clogged. Check the cartridges for any visible damage or leakage.
  • Try a New Cartridge: If possible, try using a new ink cartridge to see if the problem persists.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Try performing a factory reset on the printer. This can sometimes clear out any incorrect settings or errors in the system.
  • Steps:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Press and hold the reset button or follow the specific reset instructions for your printer model (refer to the manual or printer's support page for the correct method).

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause issues like printing only in grayscale or preventing color options from appearing.
  • Visit the Inspire 7258e support page on the HP Support website and download the latest printer drivers. Then reinstall the drivers to see if that resolves the issue.

Print a Diagnostic Report:

  • Most printers have a diagnostic or test print option (such as a nozzle check or print quality test). You can usually access this through the printer's control panel or the software on your computer.
  • This will tell you whether the problem is with the printer hardware (e.g., clogged nozzles) or if it's a software/driver issue.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • If you’re using third-party printing software or the printer is connected via a network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), there could be a conflict with the software or connection.
  • Try printing directly from another device or a different program to see if it’s a software conflict.

Inspect for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the printer manufacturer's website to see if there are any firmware updates for the printer model. Sometimes these updates resolve issues related to color printing and connectivity.

Perform a Printer Hard Reset:

  • If nothing else works, you may want to perform a full reset on the printer by unplugging it, waiting for about 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. This can help resolve some internal errors.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
