@Bit-Grinder, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're seeing a "print cartridge jam" error on your HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One printer. This issue is often related to a carriage jam, where the ink cartridge carriage is stuck or obstructed. Let’s walk through the steps to resolve it:

Cancel the Print Job (if applicable)

  • If the Cancel button is lit on the printer, press it and wait for the printer to stop making noise.

Power Off and Unplug

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.

Open the Cartridge Access Door

  • Gently open the front access door to view the ink cartridge carriage.

Check for Obstructions

  • Look for any paper scraps, labels, or foreign objects inside the printer.
  • Gently move the carriage side to side to ensure it’s not stuck. Do not force it if it’s locked.

Inspect the Carriage Latch

  • If your printer has a latch, ensure it is properly secured. Do not press down on the latch if it’s already locked.

Close the Door and Reconnect Power

  • Close the access door, plug the printer back in, and power it on.

Reset the Printer

  • If the issue persists, perform a full reset:
    • Unplug the printer while it's on.
    • Wait 60 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
