Hi @heyjude2 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are encountering a "Print Cartridge Problem" message after inserting new ink cartridges into your Photosmart C4700 series printer, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Open the printer cover and make sure each cartridge is securely seated in its respective slot. Sometimes cartridges may not be fully inserted or may be installed at an incorrect angle, leading to detection issues.
- Clean Contacts: Ink residue or dust can accumulate on the cartridge contacts or in the cartridge slots over time, causing connectivity problems. Turn off the printer and gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Be careful not to touch the nozzles or copper-colored contacts with your fingers.
- Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to clear any error states. Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer, and wait for about a minute. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. This process can sometimes resolve temporary issues with cartridge detection.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the HP Support website, enter your printer model number, and download any available firmware updates. Updating the firmware can sometimes address compatibility issues with new cartridges Software and Drivers for HP Photosmart C4700 All-in-One Printer series.
- Replace Cartridges: If you continue to encounter the error message after performing the above steps, try replacing the new cartridges with another set of genuine HP cartridges. Occasionally, cartridges may be defective or incompatible, leading to detection issues.
