Hi @camp1889,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To manually center the print heads for removal on an HP Smart Tank 6001 All-In-One printer, you can follow these steps:
Turn on the printer: Ensure that the printer is turned on and ready.
Access the printer's control panel: Locate the control panel on the printer. It's usually a small display screen with buttons around it.
Open the printer's cover: Lift the cover of the printer to access the print cartridges and print heads. Be gentle to avoid any damage.
Wait for the carriage to move: After opening the cover, the carriage containing the print heads should move to a position that allows you to access them easily. This movement may happen automatically or after a few moments.
Manually move the carriage if necessary: If the carriage doesn't move to a position where you can access the print heads, you may need to gently push it to the center. Be very careful when doing this to avoid damaging the printer.
Remove the print heads: Once the print heads are centered and accessible, you can carefully remove them from the printer. Be sure to follow any specific instructions provided by HP for your printer model.
Clean or replace the print heads: Depending on why you're removing the print heads, you may need to clean them or replace them with new ones. Follow the appropriate steps for your maintenance task.
Reinstall the print heads: After cleaning or replacing the print heads, carefully reinstall them into the printer following any provided instructions.
Close the printer cover: Once the print heads are back in place, close the cover of the printer.
Test the printer: After completing any maintenance tasks, it's a good idea to print a test page to ensure that everything is working correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
