I am waiting on instant ink to send out a new black cartridge because the one I have will not print black. I need to print some things in the meantime. How can I have it print using only the color cartridges?
Thanks
Jason

The Officejet Pro 8020 series or printers have separate replaceable ink supplies and permanent printheads. You will need all color and black ink cartridges installed to enable printing, it cannot print with one or more cartridges removed. Note: You should also make sure there are cartridges installed in the printer when it is being stored, it should not be left with any empty cartridge slots as this could allow the printhead to dry out and become clogged.
What exactly is any error message or other symptoms you have with the printer?
If there is no error message but the black portions are blank then the troubleshooting video here may help:
Also, if there is no error, but the printer will not print in black, a temporary workaround would be to select Photo paper as the paper type, even while printing on plain paper. This would force the use of color inks to print even the black areas. Note, that this would be slower and the print quality would not be as good as with the actual black ink, but it may suffice in a pinch.
