Hi @6733

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry this has been so frustrating—especially when your printer seems to go through the motions but barely leaves a mark. You’ve already taken smart steps by using the built-in tools.

Let’s go deeper and restore full print quality.

Step-by-step actions to fix faint or blank printing

Check estimated ink levels

  • Open the HP App on your Windows PC
  • Select your printer > Supplies Status
  • Confirm that both black and color cartridges show sufficient ink

Run a print quality diagnostic

  • In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Tools > Print Quality Report
  • This test shows whether ink is being applied properly
  • If the report looks fine but regular prints are faint, proceed to the next step

Clean the printhead thoroughly

  • In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead
  • Run the cleaning cycle up to three times, allowing the printer to rest between attempts
  • After each cycle, print a test page to check improvement

Align the cartridges

  • Go to Printer Settings > Tools > Align Cartridges
  • This ensures ink is applied accurately and consistently

Check paper type and print settings

  • Use plain white paper for testing
  • In the print dialog, set quality to Normal or Best
  • Avoid using Draft or EconoMode, which may reduce ink output

Replace the cartridge if needed

  • If cleaning and alignment don’t improve output, the cartridge may be internally clogged or depleted
  • Use a genuine HP cartridge compatible with your printer model
