I am receiving the "damaged cartridge" error message.  I did find that there is a "Dynamic Security Feature Affecting Cartridges Using Non-HP Security Chip"  article with information on how to override this security feature.  However, I cannot find a way to actually implement this override within the HP Application.  Please help

Hi @vinmanTX,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Are you using HP genuine ink cartridges?

Meanwhile,

If you're encountering a "damaged cartridge" error message on your HP Officejet Pro 8610 E-All-In-One Printer, along with a "Dynamic Security Feature Affecting Cartridges Using Non-HP Security Chip" message, it indicates that your printer's dynamic security feature is preventing the use of non-HP cartridges. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

1. Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. Check if the error message persists.

2. Update Firmware (if available):

  • Visit the HP Support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest firmware following the instructions provided by HP.

3. Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Remove the cartridges from the printer and reinstall them carefully, ensuring they are properly seated.
  • Check for any visible damage to the cartridges and replace them if necessary.

4. Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the cartridges you are using are compatible with your printer model. Using non-HP cartridges or cartridges with outdated chips can cause this error.

To override the "Dynamic Security Feature" in your HP Officejet Pro 8610 E-All-In-One Printer, you may need to perform a specific sequence of steps within the printer's control panel. Here's a general procedure to override the feature, although the exact steps may vary:

Access the Printer's Control Panel:

  • From the printer's home screen, navigate to the settings or setup menu.

Enter the Override Code:

  • Look for an option related to the dynamic security feature or non-HP cartridges.
  • You may be prompted to enter a specific code or sequence to override the feature. This code can usually be found in the printer's manual or support documentation.

Follow On-Screen Instructions:

  • Once you enter the override code, follow any on-screen instructions to confirm the override and continue using the non-HP cartridges.

Restart the Printer:

  • After completing the override process, restart the printer to apply the changes.

If you cannot find the option to override the dynamic security feature within the printer's control panel or settings, it's recommended to contact HP Support

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
