Hi @Texas771,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using compatible cartridges. For the HP Officejet Pro 8600 series, the cartridge numbers are:

  • Black ink: HP 950 or HP 950XL
  • Color ink: HP 951 (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) or HP 951XL

Update Printer Firmware: Make sure the printer firmware is up to date. Updates can often fix bugs that exist in older versions.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Clear Any Paper Jams: Even if you don't see a paper jam error, checking for any paper stuck inside could help resolve other issues.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Visit HP Support and download the latest drivers for macOS 10.12 Sierra.
  • Reinstall the drivers and try printing again.

Verify Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer is set as the default printing device on your computer.

Inspect the Ink Cartridge Area: Verify the cartridges are properly seated and the protective tape has been removed from the new cartridges.

I hope this helps.
