Hi @Gilbert-Chalk11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it must be not being able to access the cartridge tray when you need to replace the ink, especially as an HP Instant Ink subscriber. Let’s work together to resolve this.

  • When you try to open the printer door, does it feel stuck or jammed, or is there no movement at all?
  • Have you noticed any error messages or flashing lights on the printer that might indicate a specific issue?
  • Did this issue start after a recent paper jam or after moving the printer to a new location?

Let's try these steps.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Try opening the door again.

Check for Obstructions

  • Inspect the exterior of the printer for any visible obstructions that might be preventing the door from opening.
  • Gently press around the edges of the door to see if it clicks into place and opens.

Use the Cartridge Access Lever

  • Some HP printers have a small lever or latch near the door that helps release it. Consult the user manual to locate and operate this mechanism.

Perform a Manual Reset

  • Unplug the printer while it is powered on.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • Once it powers up, try opening the door.

If the door still doesn’t open, it could be a mechanical issue.

You may also refer to the carriage Jam error.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
