HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer

After I installed the current cartridges in my printer I got a message from HP saying that the cartridges I was using were not HP but they were.  Is this going to be an issue?  I only use the cartridges that are sent to me on your cartridge program.  Thank you for your attention to this.

Hi @VRas,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to encounter this issue after installing cartridges that you received through HP's cartridge program. Here are a few steps you can take to address the problem.

  • Confirm Cartridge Authenticity: Double-check the cartridges to ensure they are indeed genuine HP cartridges. Counterfeit or third-party cartridges might trigger this error message even if they seem similar.
  • Reinstall Cartridges: Sometimes, reseating the cartridges in the printer can resolve detection issues. Turn off the printer, remove the cartridges, and then reinstall them securely. Ensure that they click into place properly.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Dust or debris on the cartridge contacts can interfere with proper detection. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for cartridge detection issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the cartridge detection issue with your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
