Hi @mel4201,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering an "ink system" or "printer or system error" message on your HP Officejet Pro 8610, here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink levels.
  • Try removing and reinserting the cartridges to ensure they are securely in place.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the error persists.

Update Firmware/Software:

  • Visit the HP official website to check for any firmware or software updates for your printer model. If updates are available, download and install them.

Clean the Printhead:

  • The printer might have a clogged printhead. Many HP printers have a built-in cleaning function. Refer to your printer manual for instructions on how to clean the printhead.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a partial reset by turning off the printer, disconnecting the power cord, and holding the # and 3 keys simultaneously while reconnecting the power cord. Release the keys after a few seconds.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure there are no paper jams inside the printer. Clear any jams if found.

Check for Updates on the Computer:

  • Make sure your computer's operating system and printer drivers are up to date.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
