Hi @Spitfire4 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing a couple of issues with your HP Envy 5530 printer after replacing the ink cartridge. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve these issues:
1. Single Cartridge Mode
The "Single Cartridge Mode" message indicates that the printer is operating with only one cartridge. To resolve this:
- Check Both Cartridges: Ensure that both the black and the tri-color cartridges are properly installed. If either one is missing, the printer will enter Single Cartridge Mode.
- Reinstall Cartridges: Remove both cartridges and reinstall them. Make sure they click into place securely.
- Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.
2. Ink Cartridge Problem
The "Ink Cartridge Problem" message usually indicates an issue with one or both of the cartridges. Here are some steps to troubleshoot this:
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn on the printer and open the cartridge access door.
- Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you proceed.
- Remove the cartridge and inspect the copper-colored contacts. Ensure there is no protective tape left on the contacts.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge.
- Allow the contacts to dry for about 10 minutes before reinstalling the cartridge.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates on the HP Support website.
- Try a Different Cartridge:
- If cleaning the contacts does not work, try using a different cartridge if you have one available. It's possible that the cartridge you are using is defective.
- Reset the Printer:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
- Turn on the printer if it does not automatically turn on.
