HP Envy 4500 - ink cartridge error "the following ink cartridge(s) must be replaced"  I have replaced with new HP ink cartridges but get the same error and will not print.  I have tried turning the printer on / off, unplug, and different new cartridges (6 in total), and get the same error code every time.  HELP  I have more money into new cartridges than what a new printer would cost.

Hi @Hunter113 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've already tried multiple new cartridges and still encounter the same ink cartridge error on your HP Envy 4500, here are some additional steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the cartridge slots using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Make sure they are dry before reinserting the cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Turn on the printer.

Update Firmware:

  • Visit the official HP website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model. If there are updates, follow the instructions provided to update the printer's firmware.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Make sure there are no obstructions in the cartridge access area. If anything is blocking the cartridges, it may cause issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Try Different Cartridges:

  • If possible, try using a set of cartridges from a different batch or purchase from a different store to eliminate the possibility of a defective batch.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
