When printing an image it takes FOREVER to print like literally 12 to 14 minutes to print a 8.5 x 11 sheet set to standard quality. This seems like an awfully long time to print it. Any suggestions?

Hi @ChristopherSmit,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your printer is taking an unusually long time to print a standard-quality image. Here are several factors to consider and suggestions to improve the speed:

Check Print Quality Settings:

  • Ensure you have selected the appropriate print quality setting in your printer driver. Printing in 'Best' or 'Maximum Detail' quality can significantly increase print time by requiring more passes.

Paper Type Specification:

  • Verify that the paper type specified in the printer settings matches the actual paper loaded. Certain papers, such as photo and coated paper, require longer drying times.

Network Connection:

  • If your printer is connected via a network, check that all network components (e.g., network cards, hubs, routers) support high-speed operations. High network traffic can slow down printing.

Drying Time Settings:

  • Ensure that the drying time is not set to 'Extended.' You can adjust it to 'Optimal' in the printer settings.

Printer Maintenance:

  • Regularly perform maintenance tasks such as printhead alignment and cleaning to ensure optimal performance.

Driver and Firmware Updates:

  • Make sure your printer drivers and firmware are up to date. Official HP® Support, as updates often include performance improvements.

Direct Connection:

  • Try connecting the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable to determine if the network connection is causing delays.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
