@notvalid, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your printer is printing photos with vertical lines only from your laptop and not from your iPhone, this suggests the issue might be related to the laptop settings or the way the printer driver is handling the print job from the laptop. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Update Printer Driver: Ensure that the printer driver on your laptop is up to date. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your specific printer model.

Check Connection: If using a wired connection, make sure the cable is properly connected. For wireless connections, ensure that the printer is correctly connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Adjust Print Settings: Access the printer settings on your laptop and check if there's an option to adjust print quality or resolution. Sometimes reducing the resolution can prevent print defects like vertical lines.

Calibrate the Printer: Use any calibration tools provided by HP or included in the printer software. Calibration can help align the printhead and improve print quality.

Clean Printheads: If the printer has an option to clean the printheads, perform this maintenance task to prevent clogging, which might cause lines.

Use Genuine Supplies: Ensure you are using original HP ink or toner cartridges as non-genuine supplies can cause print quality issues.

Check Paper Size and Type: Make sure the paper type and size settings match the actual media loaded in the printer.

Print from Another Application: Try printing the photo from a different application on your laptop to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
