Hi @fairymir ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the toner cartridge installation or the cartridge itself.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check Toner Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the toner cartridge is properly installed. Open the printer cover and make sure the cartridge is securely in place. Sometimes, cartridges may not be fully seated, causing printing issues.
  • Remove and Reinstall Cartridge: If you suspect the cartridge might not be installed correctly, remove it and then reinstall it. Make sure to follow the HP instructions for installation carefully.
  • Check Toner Level: Verify that the toner cartridge has toner inside. If the toner is low or empty, you'll need to replace it with a new one. Even though you just bought it, it's possible the cartridge was defective or empty.
  • Clean the Printer: Sometimes, toner residue or paper dust can accumulate inside the printer and cause printing issues. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to gently clean the inside of the printer, especially around the toner cartridge area and the paper path.
  • Print a Test Page: Most printers have a self-test or diagnostic page printing function. Check your printer's manual to see how to print a test page. This will help you determine if the issue is with the printer itself or with the connection to your device.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can address printing issues and improve compatibility with new toner cartridges. Update the firmware on an HP printer

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
