Hi @officialhgkjjhg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is showing “cartridge missing or damaged” errors for all cartridges, even after cleaning the contacts and replacing them. Let’s go through some detailed troubleshooting steps:

Power Cycle the Printer

Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.

Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Verify Cartridge Installation

Open the cartridge access door.

Remove each cartridge and reinsert firmly until it clicks into place.

Ensure each cartridge is in the correct slot (black, tri-color, etc.).

Clean Contacts Thoroughly

Power off the printer and remove the cartridges.

Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the gold-colored contacts on both the cartridge and the carriage.

Allow contacts to dry completely before reinstalling.

Check for Protective Tape

Verify that any orange or transparent tape on new cartridges has been fully removed.

Reset the Printer’s Cartridge Memory

With the printer powered on, remove all cartridges.

Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds, then release.

Reinstall cartridges and check if the error clears.

Update Printer Firmware

Go to HP Support > Software & Drivers and download the latest firmware for the OfficeJet Pro 8710.

Install the update and restart the printer.

Check for Cartridge Compatibility

Ensure all cartridges are genuine HP cartridges compatible with OfficeJet Pro 8710.

Non-genuine or refilled cartridges can trigger the “missing/damaged” error.

Try One Cartridge at a Time

Remove all cartridges except black.

Check if the printer recognizes the single cartridge.

Repeat with each color cartridge to identify if a particular cartridge is faulty.

I hope this helps.
