Hi @Alanswider,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your printer stopped working after replacing the ink cartridge on macOS 15 Sequoia, here’s what we recommend:
Why This Happens
- The new cartridge may not be seated correctly or recognized by the printer.
- The HP app or printer driver may need to refresh after cartridge replacement.
- macOS 15 introduced security changes that can affect printer communication.
Steps to Fix It
1. Check Cartridge Installation
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove the new cartridge and inspect:
- Remove any protective tape from the copper contacts.
- Ensure the cartridge clicks firmly into place.
- Close the door and wait for the printer to initialize.
2. Restart Printer and Mac
- Power off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then restart.
- Restart your Mac to refresh the connection.
3. Update HP App
- Open Mac App Store → Search HP App → Install the latest version.
- Launch the HP app and check if the printer shows Ready.
4. Reset Printing System
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click in the printer list → Select Reset Printing System.
- Re-add your HP printer using HP Smart.
5. Run Printhead Cleaning
- From HP Smart: Printer Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead.
- This helps if the ink is not flowing after replacement.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- Visit Official HP® Support.
- Enter your printer model and install the latest firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
