Hi @Lorraine1990,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet 4650 is printing light even though the ink cartridges are full, here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot:
1. Check Ink Cartridges and Printheads
- Ensure proper cartridge installation: Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to make sure they're seated correctly.
- Clean the printheads: Even with full ink cartridges, clogged printheads can cause light printing. You can clean the printheads using the printer's built-in cleaning feature via the HP Smart app or through the printer’s menu:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
- If using the HP Smart app, go to Printer Settings > Maintain Your Printer > Clean Printheads.
2. Check Print Quality Settings
- Adjust print quality settings to ensure they are not set to a lower quality mode:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Printing Preferences.
- Make sure the Print Quality is set to Best or Normal instead of Draft.
3. Perform a Printhead Alignment
- Align the printhead to improve print quality:
- Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead on the printer’s control panel.
4. Update Printer Drivers
- Sometimes, outdated drivers can affect print quality. Make sure your printer drivers are up to date:
- Go to the HP support website, search for your printer model, and download the latest drivers for Windows 11.
5. Try a Test Print
- Print a test page to check if the issue is specific to certain types of documents or graphics:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Print Quality Report.
6. Check for Paper Quality
- Ensure you are using the correct type of paper for the print job. Some paper types may cause issues with ink absorption.
