I turned printer off, have removed and placed back printhead but still has not resolved the problem

@LauraW9130e, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printhead problem!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 9130E printer is having trouble recognizing the printhead after replacing the ink cartridge. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the Ink Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure that the new ink cartridge is genuine HP and compatible with the 9130E printer.
  • If the cartridge is third-party, the printer might not recognize it properly.

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait 2-3 minutes to allow the printer to reset.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Reseat the Printhead

  1. Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
  2. Remove all ink cartridges.
  3. Remove the printhead carefully.
  4. Reinsert the printhead firmly.
  5. Reinstall the ink cartridges.
  6. Close the access door and check if the error clears.

Clean the Printhead Contacts

  1. Power off the printer.
  2. Remove the ink cartridges and the printhead.
  3. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and the carriage inside the printer.
  4. Let everything dry for a few minutes.
  5. Reinstall the printhead and cartridges, then turn the printer back on.

Update Firmware

  • If your printer has outdated firmware, it may cause errors.
  • Visit the HP Support Website, search for your printer model, and check for any firmware updates.

Reset the Printer

  1. Unplug the printer while it’s still on.
  2. Hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Try a Different Cartridge

  • If the issue started after replacing the ink, the new cartridge might be faulty.
  • Try reinstalling the old cartridge (if available) and see if the error persists.

Let me know how it goes!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
