Hi @RayO90,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with some frustrating printing issues with your HP Deskjet Plus 4155. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
1. Check Ink Cartridges
- Make sure the black ink cartridge is properly installed. Remove it and reinsert it to ensure a good connection.
- Check if the ink cartridge is protected by a plastic tape. If it is, remove the tape.
2. Perform a Print Head Cleaning
- Go to the printer settings on your computer. You can usually find this in the "Printers & Scanners" section.
- Look for an option to clean the print head. This can help resolve issues with clogged nozzles.
3. Run a Printer Diagnostic
- HP printers often come with a built-in diagnostic tool. You can access this through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel. Follow the prompts to identify issues.
4. Print a Test Page
- Print a test page directly from the printer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the printer or the computer.
5. Check Printer Settings
- Ensure that the correct paper type and size are selected in the printer settings.
- Make sure that you are not trying to print in a mode that only uses color ink if you need black.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for any firmware updates for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes updates can fix bugs and improve functionality.
7. Replace the Ink Cartridge
- If the black ink cartridge is new but still not working, it might be defective. Consider replacing it with a new cartridge.
8. Check for Blockages
- Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions that might be affecting the printing process.
9. Reset the Printer
- Unplug the printer from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
