Hi @d318
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I'm really sorry your OfficeJet 4650 is printing blank pages—it’s incredibly frustrating when the printer sounds like it’s working but nothing appears on the page.
Let’s walk through a few steps to help bring your prints back to life.
Try these steps to resolve blank page printing:
1. Check ink levels and cartridge status
Even if the cartridges are new, they may not be seated properly or may have dried ink.
- Open the HP App
- Select your printer
- Go to Supplies > Estimated Ink Levels
- If any cartridge shows empty or error, remove and reseat it
2. Run a printhead cleaning
This clears dried ink and unclogs nozzles.
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead
- Follow the prompts and print a test page
- If the page is still blank, repeat the cleaning once more
3. Check for protective tape
If you recently replaced the cartridges, ensure the orange plastic tape was fully removed.
- Open the cartridge access door
- Remove each cartridge and inspect the nozzle area
- If any tape remains, peel it off completely
- Reinsert the cartridges and close the door
4. Print a test page from the printer
This helps isolate whether the issue is with the printer or the computer.
- On the printer, go to Setup > Reports > Print Quality Report
- If this page prints correctly, the issue may be software-related
- If it’s also blank, the problem is likely with the ink system
5. Reinstall the printer software
Corrupted drivers can cause blank output.
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Remove the HP OfficeJet 4650
- Restart your PC
- Reinstall using the full software package from the HP OfficeJet 4650 Driver Page
Let me know if the test page prints anything at all or if both black and color are affected. Once the ink is flowing and the software is synced, your printer should return to crisp, clear output.
