Hi @Rieneke123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

Here are some steps to troubleshoot why your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer isn't printing borderless despite adjusting the settings:

1. Check Printer Settings for Borderless Printing

  • Ensure Borderless Printing is enabled in your print settings:
    • Open the document you want to print, go to File > Print.
    • Click Printer Properties or Preferences.
    • Look for a tab called Paper/Quality or Layout.
    • Ensure Borderless Printing is selected, and the correct paper size is chosen (such as 4x6, 5x7, or A4 if supported).
    • Set Paper Type to the correct type, such as Photo Paper, as plain paper may not support borderless printing.

2. Verify Paper Size and Type Compatibility

  • Not all paper sizes and types support borderless printing. Check that you're using a paper size and type that your printer supports for borderless printing (such as Photo Paper in sizes like 4x6 or 5x7).
  • Consult your printer's user guide for a list of supported borderless paper types and sizes.

3. Update Printer Drivers and Firmware

  • Ensure that both the printer drivers and firmware are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with specific print features like borderless printing.
    • Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
    • You can update the firmware through the HP Smart app or by downloading it directly from the support page for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e.

4. Use the HP Smart App

  • If you’re not already using the HP Smart App, download it to control the printer.
  • The HP Smart App provides additional print settings, including advanced options for borderless printing.
  • Ensure you’ve set the paper type and size correctly in the app before printing.

5. Printer Software Settings in OS

  • On Windows:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click the printer, and choose Printer Preferences.
    3. Check the settings under the Advanced tab, ensuring that Borderless Printing is enabled and the proper media type is selected.
  • On Mac:
    1. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your printer and click Options & Supplies.
    3. Make sure the correct driver is installed and configured for borderless printing.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, consider testing a different document or photo to ensure it isn’t related to the file itself.
