My printer worked fine for years, then all of a sudden started printing garbled garbage. This has happened in the past and ran the diagnostic tool and it usually fixed it with some download. Now this tool says everything is fine when it clearly isn't!!!! I am about ready to go ballistic. Tried downloading drivers, everything. Any suggestions?

@mr_creosote, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is not printing as it is supposed to.

Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Insert one ink cartridge at a time and try printing to identify defective ink cartridges.

Kindly refer to this document to fix print quality issues - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Print a test page and check the result.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thank you very much! I was able to print a doc placed on printer glass. I was also able to print a Word doc sent from my laptop. It was PDF that failed. The problem seems to be connected to PDFs.
